In my own opinion, there is no popular competing idiom in English for this expression. It is literal as it is literary. You might start to wonder, how is that even possible? What does it even mean? What is the stone and the birds, even? And also, what makes a habit a hobby is the pleasure that is gotten from doing it, that you keep wanting to do it. How about you make money from that hobby?
