Maryam Abdullahi, in full Maryam Abdullahi Bala, was born on December 24th, 1995, in Adamawa State, Yola, Nigeria. She is a veteran northern Nigerian actress from Kano State, known for her immense contribution to the Kannywood industry (The Hausa entertainment industry) where her career started. She adopted Maryam AB Yola as her stage name, which she is popularly known for in and outside of the Kannywood industry.

Early Life and Family

Maryam Abdullahi was raised and schooled in Adamawa and subsequently Abuja, where she spent most of her youth. Born with a strong passion for acting, she engaged in activities that nurtured and shone her talent alongside her academics. Following her secondary school education, she decided to pursue a career in acting with the permission of her parents.

Career Beginnings and Breakthrough

Between 2011-2012, the Kannywood industry welcomed Maryam Abdullahi as their newest member when she made her debut in the movie ‘Alkawari’. Her talent and acting skills were undeniable, and she consequently made a second appearance in another movie ‘NAS’ alongside the famous Kannywood actor, musician, and director, Adam A Zango, who was her mentor at the time. The movie ‘NAS’ was a love story of a young innocent girl and an emotionless, vicious thug, which prompted the romantic relationship between the two-star actors.

First Marriage

In 2013, after the premiere of their first movie together, Maryam Abdullahi and Adam A Zango tied the knot in a grand wedding fatiha in Abuja. Unfortunately, a few months after the wedding, their marriage hit rock bottom and ended in divorce. The divorce led Maryam to take a long hiatus from the Kannywood screen, which allowed her to return in 2018, charged and ready to take on the industry again.

Second Marriage

Despite her failed attempt at love in 2013, Maryam found love again in 2022. Unlike her first marriage, she is seemingly the happiest wife in the world, displaying affection for her husband and deep contentment in her marriage at every opportunity. Her fans expressed their delight in her new marriage, showering her with blessings and prayers.
