Catfishing. Trolling. Cyberbullying. Those are the stuff that makes Arewa Twitter. And recently, we have new ones. Pornography and sexting.
And no, not the sexting and sharing of nudes in the DMs. That is a story for another day. Full grown-up talks about sex, style positions, and techniques.
Recently, Twitter spaces have been a hotbed of so many activities. From politics talk, career enhancement, and relationship arguments.
But Kankanaty had other ideas.
Why not use them to promote pornography? After all, she had the reputation and the followers. Her 90k followers quickly agreed.
Hence, the ‘Bare It All’ space was born. At its peak, the space had over 200 listeners, with Kankanty calling the shots.
It wasn’t long until Arewa Twitter descended on her and her pack of followers. She was accused of promoting ‘immorality’ and ‘filth’. According to one user, she had turned Arewa Twitter to ‘Onlyfans’, the content subscription platform popular amongst pornographers.
But Kankanty wasn’t going down alone. After all, other people fuelled her rise and encouraged her. So she did the next most logical thing.
Leak her DMs.
That was when the despicable questions asked by users were discovered. She was just the firewood, and others were the fuel. The whole of #ArewaTwitter joined in condemning her acts and her fellow conspirators.
After all, that wasn’t what Arewa Twitter is known for. They are also known for charity works, matchmaking intending couples, and voicing against injustice and insecurity.
Let’s hope it remains that way.
