Setting up a Facebook ad for your business or any other thing doesn’t require you to be a pro. Here, you read up on how to set up Facebook ads for beginners. The steps are few and quite easy to follow.

Facebook ads are a powerful way of growing businesses. The platform is one of the biggest in the world, and so, it makes for business advertisement quite easy, and fast with some really good results.

Let us dive in, shall we?

Why Choose Facebook Ads?

Several social media platforms offer advertisement services, but what makes Facebook ads different? Facebook ads offer a lot of customization and creative control over your ads.

Facebook ads are also connected to Instagram ads. You can run one ad on the two platforms at a go. For some with experience, they might say the Facebook ads are quite expensive, but the truth is, it is still pretty affordable given the massive advantages it offers compared to its competitors.

So, what are the steps taken to set up Facebook ads?

8 Steps Taken in Setting up Facebook Ads

1. Come Up With a Strategy

Before anything, you must first come up with a game plan. The very first step taken in creating a Facebook ad is strategy; this step is one you cannot afford to overlook. If you do, you will end up creating an ad campaign that doesn’t really target the audience you want, or worse, you create an ad that doesn’t really target anyone.

So what are the questions you need to ask yourself when coming up with a game plan? Ask yourself these questions and be sure to answer them as carefully as possible:

  • What goods or services am I advertising?
  • Who are my target audiences?
  • How will they use what I am offering?
  • What are the possible issues they might have about my products?
  • What is my endgame? Also, what is the goal of this ad campaign?

Pro Tip: A game-plan isn’t only needed when setting up Facebook ads; it is needed when starting anything new that is worthwhile.

2. Choose Your Objective

Now that you have a strategy in place, it is time to actually begin setting up your ad via the ad manager. The first thing to do here is to select your objective. It is imperative to choose the right one as Facebook will in fact optimize ads based on your objective. The right objective improves results.

You will want to choose an objective that truly resonates with your business goals.

3. Target Your Audience

You should not start an ad campaign without knowing or at least having a rough idea of who your target audience is.

This is what it looks like:

Pro Tip:

  • Use Lookalike audiences to replicate qualities from your custom audience. Facebook highlights the similarities between those in custom audiences and original audiences and finds users similar to them outside this bracket to use in the next campaign.
  • Use demographic targeting
  • Custom audiences; custom audiences target specific users who have visited your Facebook or Instagram business page.
  • Use interest targeting

All these tools are designed to help improve targeting accuracy and efficiency.

4. Choose Where You Want Your Advertisement to Be Seen

The next step taken in setting up a Facebook ad is choosing what applications and devices you want your ads to be shown.

From the image above, you can see that you have the option of selecting devices, placements, apps, mobile devices, networks, and so on.

5. Create Your Budget

This is the part where you select the budget that is most favourable to you, select when your ad campaign schedule, and optimization method.

Note: Only manually change the optimization method if you are familiar with it.

You can set up your ad to run at specified times or set it up to run indefinitely. You can also select a lifetime budget or daily budget. Think carefully before making this decision.

6. Select Advertisement Format

From the image above, you can see the ad formats available for selection includes:

  • Single image ads
  • Video ads
  • Carousel ads, which allow you to show several videos and/or pictures
  • Canvas ads
  • Collections, which open up to be a full-screen mobile experience.

Note: Each ad format has its own unique quality and benefit.

7. Add Details

In this section, you can add details about your business. These added details can help generate more traffic for your business.

Details like your website address, call to action, and product description is things you should not overlook as these are what make your page look more professional and attractive.

The detail section looks like this:

8. Manage Your Ad

This is the final step in creating Facebook ads. Once your ad campaign begins running, it is imperative to track your performance. By tracking how well your ads are doing, you can make necessary adjustments via ads manager.

Conclusion

Facebook ads have a lot of advantages and options to choose from. These options are geared at making your business promotion smooth and efficient. Remember to choose your options carefully, choose options that will work in your favour and not against.

What Is Cyber Security?

What Is Cyber Security?

We are in a generation nearly everything is online; I mean, practically everything is done, and can be done online.  A lot of sensitive information is being stored online. For this reason, there is an undisputed need for the protection of said sensitive information. This is where cyber security comes into play. So, what is cyber security?

Cyber security is typically defined as the steps and processes involved in safeguarding the important stuff we put online.

Shall we get a little bit techier?

Cyber security is the application of technologies and processes to defend systems, networks, devices, and data (vital or otherwise) from cyber-attack.

What Is Cyber Attack?

We have mentioned the word cyber a couple of times now, but do we really know what it means?

The word cyber means “relating to, or involving computers or computer networks.” Now it will make more sense when we go deeper into cyber attacks and cyber security.

A cyber-attack is an assault by criminals using a network of computers to maliciously disable target computers, steal data or use the target computer as a launch point for other attacks.

We cannot talk about cyber security properly without discussing cyber-attacks, even briefly. We will touch upon some of the common cyber-attacks we are exposed to on a daily basis without proper security measures in place.

1. Backdoors

Backdoors, as the name implies is a technique where there is remote access to computers or systems without the user knowing of such access. The backdoor allows the cybercriminal to steal data and spy on the target computer.

2. Formjacking

Personally, I think this is one of the worst and among the most unethical type of cyber assault. Formjacking entails inserting malicious codes into online payment forms to gain access to the customers’ card details.

3. DNS Poisoning Attacks

DNS stands for Domain Name System. In this type of attack, the victim gets redirected to malicious sites without the permission of the said user. You and I have been victims of this type of attack multiple times, unfortunately.

4. Phishing Attacks

This is another attack that entails the use of social media networks to trick people into divulging sensitive information. This is extremely dangerous as these fraudulent messages aren’t always so distinguishable from those that are legit. Again, at some point in time, you and I have received such messages requesting bank details and whatnot.

5. Malware

You must not be techy to hear about malware. It is a very popular term in the cyber world. Basically, malware is any file or program intended or designed to harm or disrupt a computer. There are so many malware types out there, but to name a few, we have: Botnet software, Ransomware attack, RAT(remote access Trojan), Spyware, Trojan

Now that we know some of the ways cybercriminals attack their victims, I am sure it has become ever more evident that the need for cyber security is indisputable.

Why is Cyber-Security Important?

At this point, it should be clear that anybody who has a digital footprint needs some sort of security online. These attacks are not only aimed at tech people, no. it will be unwise to think so. In actuality, cyber-attacks are often automated and aim to exploit common computer network vulnerabilities rather than specific websites and organizations.

Cyber security is very important because it protects all forms of data from personal data, personal information, and intellectual property to the government and industry data.

Without cyber security, you cannot protect the data that you have stored online, neither can your organization protect itself from attacks.

Cyber-attacks can come from any facet of your company or organization. It is becoming increasingly important for companies to educate their staff about common cyber threats like social engineering scams, malware and other forms of threats that will put the organization at risk.

The truth is; whether you are an individual, small business owner or a large organization, so long as you rely on a computer to send and receive data, you are vulnerable to cyber-attacks.

Cyber Security and Information Security

It is very easy to confuse cyber security with information security. At a glance, one might think the two mean the same thing but is indeed a fine line between the two.

Cyber security is primarily involved with the protection of electronic devices against attacks in cyberspace while information security is concerned with protecting the confidentiality and integrity of information.

Cyber security and information security are fundamental to what is known as information risk management.

Information risk management is a risk reduction technique that employs procedures and technology that mitigate cyber-attacks from vulnerability and poor data security. Data breaches are highly detrimental to the victims and are a result of poorly protected information.

You need cyber security in order to protect your hardware from attacks that will lead to information or data theft while information security is put in place to protect the information or data stored on the electronic device.

10 Best Cyber Security Practices

1. Keep Software Up-To-Date

There are primarily three reasons why a software update is highly recommended: to add features to allow a smoother and faster use of a device of software, bug fix, and security update.

2. Avoid Opening Dangerous And Suspicious Emails

We talked about software engineering scams, and what better way to dodge this very annoying bullet than to be extra cautious about emails and messages from unknown sources.

3. Change Hardware From To Time

This practice right here is a bit expensive to maintain, but extremely important. You may think that frequent software is enough, but it really isn’t. This is because there comes a time when the device is outdated and so the software update cannot be supported by the old device.

4. Adopt a Secure File Sharing Service

The files you share are only as secure as the sharing service you use to share them with.  Using a secure file sharing solution to encrypt your files prevents unauthorized access and keeps your files safe.

5. Use Anti-Virus

This is the popular means of fighting viral attacks on electronic devices. The usage of anti-virus doesn’t provide complete protection against attacks, but it does greatly reduce the risk.

6. Use Secure VPN for Private Connections

VPN stands for virtual private network. Using the VPN will secure your connection and protect your information from your internet service provider and malicious prying eyes.

7. Triple Check Your Passwords!

You cannot overlook this practice as it is very important and often at times, it is the first layer of defence against data and information breach. Use howtosecuremypassword.net to see just how secure your password is.

8. Scan External Storage Devices for Virus

Your external storages such as flash-drives are susceptible to viruses and malware. If you hook up infected hardware to your computer or mobile phone, it will spread.

9. Do Not Keep Adware on Your Devices

Yep! You guessed it, ads. Pesky ads! What the adware does is collect information about you and serve you more targeted ads based on the collected information.

This is why sometimes your internet browser seems like it knows exactly what you want or what you are thinking about. That is the adware at work.

10. Enable 2-Factor Authentication

2-factor authentication is simply another layer of protection that helps verify the user identity before granting access.

Conclusion

In this article, we have discussed cyber security, information security and cyber-attacks. I am quite sure that you are a lot wiser on the importance of cyber-security and the risks incurred by neglecting it. As cyber-security measures are getting more sophisticated, so does cyber-attacks. For this reason, one must always be vigilant about the security of their devices and information stored.

All You Need to Know about Robotics

All You Need to Know about Robotics

Robotics springs from the root word, ‘robot’. A robot is basically a machine that resembles a human being and is able to copy some or all of human movements. A robot may function automatically or semi-automatically.

Now that you know what a robot is, the next question is ‘what is Robotics?’

Robotics is defined as a branch of engineering that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots.

You may wonder why anyone would sit and write a whole article on robots or robotics. Well, if you aren’t already aware, perhaps it’s time you take some time out to read this article and get enlightened as to the uses and application of robotics in a world that is in a rapid state of technological evolution.

In search of growth and survival, man has developed so many things employing different techniques across history. And one of those techniques is the application of robots to make life easier and safer.

Yes, contrary to the movie ‘the terminator’, robots are actually quite safe and save man from hazardous tasks.

In this article, you will learn about the various applications of robotics that help man achieve higher efficiency.

The History of Robots

The early conception of robots can be traced back all the way to 3000BC when Egyptian water clocks used human figurines to strick the clock bells whenever an hour passes. There are other instances across the face of history where genius men made very good attempts at creating autonomous beings.

In the first century A.D., a man named Petronius Arbiter made a human figurine that could move like a human being. Another man by the name of Giovanni Torriani created a wooden robot that could fetch the Emperor’s daily bread from the store in 1557! By far this is my personal favourite. I mean, can you begin to imagine how much of a visionary this man was to be able to conjure up something like this way back in 1557?

Robotics reached a relative peak in the 1700s; countless ingenious robots were created during this time period.

In the 19th century, a talking doll by Edison and a steam-powered robot by Canadians planted the first seeds of inspiration for the modern robot and it is safe to say that the advancement in the field of robotics has taken an astronomical leap in the 20th century.

Types of Robots

Generally speaking, there are 5 types of robots:

1. Preprogrammed Robots

These types of robots operate in a controlled facility where they perform simple, monotonous tasks. A simple example is the robotic arms found in car assembly lines. The arm performs the simple functions of welding, engines assembly, and so on.

These arms are used because they can perform these tasks faster and for longer periods of time.

2. Humanoid Robots

These robots, as the name implies, are robots that are designed to look like humans and mimic simple to complex human emotion and behaviour. Humanoid robots can also perform human activities like running, jumping, and carrying objects of varying sizes, even handling delicate goods like glass and eggs.

See Sophia by Hanson Robotics and Atlas by Boston Dynamics.

3. Autonomous Robots

A prime example of an autonomous robot is the Roomba vacuum cleaner, which uses sensors to roam freely throughout a home.

Autonomous robots are unique in the sense that they do not require human supervision to operate. They utilize sensors to take in the world around them and then use fast computers to take the optimal next step based on their data and mission.

4. Teleoperated Robots

Teleoperated robots use a wireless network to enable human control from a safe distance. These robots usually work in extreme geographical conditions, weather, circumstances, etc. An example is the human-controlled submarine bots that are employed to fix broken underwater pipes or landmine-seeking drones deployed on battled fields.

5. Augmenting Robots

These robots serve the purposes of enhancing the human base abilities or replacing capabilities lost by a human. An example of the former is the exosuits used for lifting heavyweights. These suits enhance the base power level of the wearer and gift them with the ability to lift weights that are otherwise impossible for them to lift.

An example of the latter is prosthetic body parts that are used to replace those that are lost.

8 Applications of Robotics

1. Robots in Factories!

Robots can be found everywhere in factories these days, and it's not very hard to see why.

Yes, that’s right. Robots can be found everywhere in factories these days, and it’s not very hard to see why. There is a lot of repetitive action in manufacturing industries, actions such as welding, sealing, packaging, and a lot more. The human mind is prone to distraction, and with distraction comes errors.

Some errors are without heavy risks, as the worst-case scenario might be the loss of a product or a reduction in product quality while other errors are quite costly and could claim lives or body parts. But when you have robots doing these tasks, you do not have to worry about loss of life or product quality reduction. Why? Robots don’t get tired or distracted, also, they don’t die since they aren’t alive in the first place.

This is a win-win situation no matter how you look at it. In fact, it is a win-win-win situation because robots are a lot faster than humans. So, you not only get safety and accuracy but tremendous speed too.

Having these three factors present in any manufacturing industry means that output is maximized.

2. Robots in Farm Fields!

Robots can now be used to enhance farming activities

Have you ever worked on a farm before? If you haven’t then perhaps you could ask someone who has about their experience on the physical effort exerted to maintain production. If you have worked on a farm, and you still do, this will certainly come as a relief for you.

There are many recycled tasks in farming that are both energy and time-consuming. These tasks can be performed more suitable by robots thereby saving both time and energy. These tasks may include seeding, weed control, harvesting, etc. Robots are usually used for harvesting crops which allow farmers to be more efficient. There are different robots for different farming activities and such an example is the Ecorobotix. It is powered by solar energy and can be used to target and spray weeds using a camera system.

3. Robots Doing Household Chores

what is robotics

Robots are specifically designed to reduce human efforts. With the rapid advancement in technology generally, we have seen improved sophistication in machines. Robots are now capable to carry out simple and complex human chores at home. There are a lot of fully automated devices nowadays that provide such convenience at home. We have cooking bots, lawn-mower bots, and the most famous being vacuum bots.

These robots are fitted with what is called artificial intelligence that enables them to partake in machine learning. That way, they are able to develop the capacity to study the nature of their tasks and perform them ever more efficiently.

4. Application of Robotics in the Field of Medicine

The application of robotics has stretched to the medical field

Robotics can also be applied in the field of medicine. With their accuracy and efficiency, robots can a great tool for doctors to have in their hospitals. Robotic equipment being used in a hospital provides a better 3D view. An added advantage is that robots are able to use surgical tools a lot better than human hands. In this day and age, surgeries are increasingly being done by robots specifically designed for such purposes. One good reason is that machines are less disposed to making errors such as slipping of surgical blades from blood-slicked hands.

Another glorious point to mark out is the advent of prosthetics. Utterly damaged limbs that cannot be fixed through surgical means be replaced using artificial limbs created through the field of robotics.

5. Application of Robotics in the Military

Robots are used for combat where humans deem it too dangerous

In most first-world countries, robots are employed in the department of defence. They are used to control the missiles, locate snipers, survey enemy territory using disposable drones and so much more.

Surveillance bots are the most commonly used robots used in the military. They are flexible, robust, and disposable. The cameras are equipped with picks-up thermal signatures and are also fitted with a facial recognition system.

6. Robots Delivering My Products?

The field of robotics is used to deliver products

A robot delivering light goods and services is no longer a thing of fiction. Although there are still a lot of kinks to iron out, online shopping giants such as Amazon are not wasting any time utilizing this piece of technology to improve service quality. Drones are now being employed to deliver lightweight goods and services to consumers.

The advantage is that heavily populated cities with terrible traffic are longer a hindrance seeing as drones do not exactly follow traffic. This results in faster delivery speeds.

7. Automated Transportation

Tesla automated cars is one of the applications of robotics

Automated transportation is another application for robotics. With the development of autonomous self-driving cars like the one from Google and Tesla, there is a significant reduction in danger to the lives of people. To clear up a simple misconception, self-driving robots are not robots that drive cars like chauffeurs or you and I; they are simple cars that are fitted with artificial intelligence that enables them to move according to very accurate calculations carried out by the software.

8. Robots in Class Rooms!

Robots are now used to teach students in the classrooms

A lot of students suffer from different diseases that stop them from physically attending classes. So, a group of top engineers came up with the idea to use robots as some sort of proxy for the student. The robot is being remotely controlled by the student from his/her sickbed. The eyes of the robots serve as cameras while the limbs are there to aid in communication gestures. The whole essence of this is to create a feeling of closeness between the student and the classroom.

Will Robots Displace The Human Workforce?

This is a very valid question. In the early 20th century, horses were the main means of transportation and were beast largely used on farmlands. Horse employment seemed pretty much indispensable. 50 years later, cars and tractors made short work of these beasts. Do you see where I’m going with this?

While Humans are a thousand times smarter and more adaptable than horses, it is indeed valid to worry about being replaced by robots. As these machines become more nimble, more intelligent, the human race seems more vulnerable. You will be astonished at the feats achieved by modern artificial intelligence. So, this begs the question, “Will robots become smart enough to do away with the human workforce?” Well, yes and no.

As things stand, robots on their own do not have that capability, but if you look at the rate at which we become increasingly dependent on them, and the rate at which you find them in more sectors of human life with each passing year, it is indeed not farfetched.

According to Economist.com, A new working paper concludes that, between 1990 and 2007, each industrial robot added per thousand workers reduced employment in America by nearly six workers.

Conclusion

It is safe to say that there is a major shift in paradigm regarding the way things are being done, and the level of influence technology has in our lives. What used to be a thing of fiction, only seen in movies and cartoons is now very real; in fact, we have interacted with it at some point in time.

The introduction of robots into our daily activities has indeed made life easier and more convenient, and with time, robots will cover even more parts of our lives. Do not be alarmed, but robots are taking over!

What Clean Energy Is All About

What Clean Energy Is All About

I am quite sure you have at some point in time heard about clean energy. Perhaps you have heard about but you don’t know what it actually is. ‘If there is such a thing as clean energy, does that mean an unclean energy exists?’

If you need answers to these questions, then you have come to the right place. So, what is clean energy?

Clean energy is energy that comes from renewable, zero-emission sources that do not contaminate the atmosphere when used.

What Does Clean Energy Mean Exactly?

Clean energy is regarded as clean simply because it is energy that is gotten from sources that do not produce greenhouse gases or any other pollutants. Often at times, clean energy is mistaken for green energy. Although they may have similarities, they are not the same in fact. While clean energy is gotten from sources that do not produce contaminants or greenhouse gases, green energy is energy that is gotten from natural sources. There is a subtle difference between the two types of energies regardless of the similarities.

We also have to talk about renewable energy.

Renewable energy is energy generated from sources that are constantly being recharged or replenished.  The ideal clean energy combination occurs where green energy combines with renewable energy. The perfect example of this is wind energy.

Below is a simple cheat sheet to help remember the difference between the three energies.

  • Clean energy = clean air / no air pollution.
  • Green energy = natural sources.
  • Renewable energy = energy that is replenished.

How Does Clean Energy Work?

Its working principle is quite simple actually. Clean energy works by utilizing renewable energy and virtually inexhaustible sources like the sun and wind to create energy that has zero negative impact on the environment. On top of all that, I can have a positive impact on climate change.

What Are the Benefits of Clean Energy?

Clean energy provides a variety of benefits that are both economic and environmental.

When talking about the environmental benefits of clean energy, the first thing to highlight is the massive reduction of air pollution. Thanks to the massive rise in technology, there are more factories now than there ever were at any point in history. While this certainly sounds like awesome news, it is not without cause for concern. Factories burn a lot of fossil fuels and chemicals which have byproducts that are quite detrimental to our atmosphere. With clean energy though, the scary statistical digits regarding the slow death of our planet will be significantly reduced.

When talking about the positive economic impact of clean energy, we must understand that a diverse supply of clean energy will most certainly reduce the over-dependence on fossil fuel which in turn will cut short fuel importation and the associated financial costs it incurs.

Another economic advantage is that, with clean energy, there is no need to spend money on manpower and machinery trying to extract and transport fuel as is the case with oil. Renewable clean energy replenishes itself naturally.

Also, clean energy will provide job opportunities as it will need manpower to manufacture and install.

How It Is Used

Definitely, you will wonder “What is clean energy used for?” well, clean energy is used for a lot of things. Earlier, we made mention of wind energy as a prime example of renewable clean energy, let us dive in a little bit deeper.

Wind power can be harnessed using a windmill and a generator; this is one of the most common ways of doing it. The windmill is attached to the generator. The turning of the windmill blades is converted to useable energy by the generator. This type of energy harness has been used for ages to do all sorts of mechanical tasks. This clean energy is also used to generate electricity, although on small scale.

Another way of using clean energy is through the use of solar panels. Clean energy in the form of solar energy is used for heating, lighting buildings, generating electricity, and cooling. The solar energy from the sun is collected, stored, and transformed into usable energy through the use of solar panels.

We also have clean energy in the form of hydroelectricity. The kinetic energy from the flowing rivers and streams is used the turn turbines which in turn generate electricity.

Are All Renewable Sources of Energy Clean?

An energy source has to be by definition ‘clean’ in order to be considered as clean energy. That means it has to emit zero toxic byproducts when used.

To answer the question above, not all renewable energy sources are clean. A simple example is the burning of wood or charcoal. The wood itself that is used as fuel is renewable, but the byproduct emitted in the form of carbon is by far not clean. This is where solar energy, geothermal energy, hydroelectricity, and wind energy are regarded as truly clean energy.

Conclusion

This is a field that is still very much in its early stages, and each day, more breakthroughs are being discovered through extensive research and experimentation. While this is the case, it is not farfetched to say that clean energy is the future of the power and energy sector across the globe.

As the endeavour in the pursuit of clean, green, and renewable energy intensifies, work will be created and costs will fall.

People around the globe are increasingly becoming aware of the environmental and economic benefits of clean energy. It is time to ditch the old ways go clean!

Schoola App is the Future of E-learning

Schoola App is the Future of E-learning

Have you heard of the School app? I bet you have. Well, even if this is your first time hearing about it, I’ll say that you have some pretty decent luck. Why?

Because the School app is a K12 learning application that helps students in primary and secondary school deepen their knowledge in core subjects like Math, Science and English!, and no, it is not boring. On the contrary, the platform is actually quite fun, engaging and entertaining. What could be better than a learning app that’s fun? Exactly, you can’t think of anything that beats it.

Now that you have a sneak-peek into what Schoola is, let us dive in deeper and see what it is all about.

The Inception Of Schoola

Launched on the 1st of July, 2020, the Schoola app quickly gained ground as more schools in the northern part of Nigeria became aware of its many benefits and potential to improve the educational system of arewa.

Is the launch of the Schoola app an act of providence? Well, you can certainly say that as its availability to the market couldn’t have come at a better time than when schools were closed and education was halted due to the worldwide pandemic that is Covid-19.

Schoola app helped students who were also greatly affected by the pandemic to quickly get up to speed and close the gap that was created after being left out of academia for months.

So, What Is Schoola Exactly?

One of the app’s co-founders, Mr Abdul Bature, described Schoola as “a gamified blended learning platform, that is curriculum agnostic and multilingual, allowing all schools to create and share customized content with learners”. He further went on to explain that the platform supports physical and remote assessments and rewards the students for doing schoolwork, encouraging them to learn.

Let’s face it, each and every one of us loves to be rewarded when we do something good. We could say that there’s a touch of psychology in the engineering of the app. I mean, students literally get rewarded for doing school work. If that isn’t an awesome way of motivating students, I don’t know what is!

Why Was It Developed?

The schoola app was developed in order to address a very important issue here in arewa. The educational system and overall standard of schools and students have been on a gradual decline over the years, and so innovative entrepreneurs like the Schoola team put together their brains and cooked up this wonderful application.

It is indeed true that not every hero wears a cape. Some sit behind a computer system to make positive changes in their community!

Who Developed Schoola?

This might come as a surprise to some of our readers but the co-founders of this application are all under the age of 30. Yeah, you read that right, they’re all youngsters with a passion for academia and IT.

A bold technical team at IT Central Kaduna that is led by Nasiru Mustapha, Abdullahi Bature and three others were responsible for the development of this game-changing app.

The team comprises Nasir Mustapha, CEO, a seasoned python engineer who has industry-level skills-building solutions for other startups and companies like Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Abdulalim Ladan, CTO, who builds the mobile applications and Abdul Bature, COO, who contributes to the product, marketing and strategy.

Other members of the current management team are Hajara Bako and Amatullah Macido, both certified educators, who are in charge of deployments and communication respectively.

These are our capeless heroes!

What is The Goal?

According to one a member of the Schoola team of engineers, Gen Zs are digital natives, who have hardly lived a day of their lives without the Internet or using a gadget. They live in the social media generation and expect content to be fun, engaging and interactive. Schoola has proven to be the right tool that helps schools improve learning outcomes. It allows them to run a parallel- offline and online school keeping learners engaged with school content all the time.

The new learner is distracted all the time, therefore learning has to be fun and engaging at all times!

What Was Discovered After The Launch of Schoola?

In the early days of school resumption, Schoola was shared with 50 schools right here in arewa, and what was discovered after its use?

Underperformance and Poor grades by the students especially where it was launched. This was a bittersweet result as you can imagine.

It was bitter primarily due to the poor results obtained by students, is it the educational system at fault, or is it something else entirely? Regardless of what factor is responsible for this, the Schoola team is ever more determined to bring solutions to the table in order to increase the levels of schools and students in the northern part of Nigeria.

On the other hand, it was sweet because The Schoola app served a very powerful second function, which was to highlight the level of performance of the students. No matter how you look at it, Schoola has been a success thus far, and if numbers truly don’t lie, its success projection will see the app climb even higher up the ladder in the not so distant future.

How Does The App Work?

This one here is for the tech enthusiasts, I am quite sure you’re itching to know how the gears turn in the background, allow me to scratch your itch.

A dedicated web interface is available for teachers to create lessons or populate assessment questions. When shared with students, this content turns into a fun, engaging and interactive way for their students to learn.

Students get rewards for completing assignments, tests or any form of the quiz they take on the platform. The Duel & Tournament features to ensure they love to do school work after school and serve as a booster to their performance levels- practice makes perfect!

For teachers, an AI was embedded to help them generate content faster and help with marking subjective quizzes. This increases efficiency and creates more time for research on how they can better educate the new learner.

What is The Schoola Interface Like?

The school interface is very user-friendly and direct seeing as its target audience is major students between the ages of 12-17. The whole goal is to make learning easier and to keep the student interested. An easy way of achieving that is by making a very user-friendly interface that will Moy serve to drive the students away.

The sections on the app include:

  • Assignments: this is where all assignments on the app can be accessed by the students.
  • Scheduled Tests:  in this section, a calendar is set out to Mar out dates in which tests are scheduled to be taken.
  • Notes: as the name implies, this section is where notes are taken by students.
  • Leaderboard: This is where students view their overall ranking. Some competition is indeed quite healthy amongst students in order for them to keep pushing their limits to achieve greater heights.
  • Duels: In a mood to go one on one with someone to test your skills and knowledge? Challenge someone on the Schoola app via the Duels option and get started!
  • Tournament: Here is where you see all available test tournaments and practices to help you prepare for the real entrance examination.
  • Practice Questions: This is where you can access practice questions to help keep you sharp and ready. Practice makes perfect!

There are some additional display features like Quiz Count which displays the total number of quizzes a particular student has taken. Then there’s the Points display which shows the total amount of points scored by students through quiz and assignment completion.
