While rapping is not a new phenomenon in Arewa, seeing females rapping is undoubtedly unique. The hip-hop industry mainly dominates males like DJ AB, Morell, Classiq, Deezell, and more.
How about female rappers in northern Nigeria? Worry not. Here is a list of female hip-hop artists in northern Nigeria
Haddy Rappia

Lil Pee
Queen of Hausa Hip Hop Music, also known as ‘Lil Pee,’ is one such promising young female rapper. She is from Taraba State and was born on January 8, 1997.
Promise Bitrus Emmanuel is her real name. Because she began rapping at a young age, the young artist took the moniker ‘Lil.’

The rapper is always number one in shows and awards events, and her Nicky Minaj-like performance has earned her a legion of fans. She has previously worked with Boc, Teeswagz, Kaits, and others.
Some of her songs include; Nazo, Arewa Namu, Hustle, and more.
Safa
While not a rapper, Safara’u, now known as Safa, has taken the music industry by force.

Rayya Kwana Casa’in

Conclusion
These rappers’ successes will likely pave the way for more upcoming female rappers in northern Nigeria.
Apart from the glamorous wedding, another thing that caught the attention of people was the bridal outfit. Ummi Rahab gathered a reputation for being a fashion icon, so, naturally, her wedding dress will be such a topic of discussion.
Even though her bridal gown was beautiful, it was panned by critics. The white gown had a simple style with a neck collar.
“It is a wedding down and not a graduation gown” was the response of someone who reviewed the gown.
To many, the gown looks ‘too local,’ and the collar was ‘unnecessary’. She was also accused of using an ‘extra bra’ and ‘padding’ her hips. In addition, the dress was too revealing, which led to the conclusion that it was rented or not hers.
Many people liked the second gown’s style but not the fabric.
The red gown complimented her fair skin and the henna on her with her beautiful purse. To some, it is the most beautiful of all the gowns she wore.
Surely, because of the gowns’ beauty, they must have cost a fortune.
Additional costs for tailoring and design could amount to an extra N200,000 each. All in all, Ummi Rahab’s bridal gowns cost between N500,000 to N600,000.
The gowns were probably from Brides World located at 1 Audu, E Bello Rd, GRA, Kano.
The groom on the other hand wore his white Babban Riga and a matching Zanna Bukar cap, and a black cover shoe to match.
The story immediately trended, with the Hashtag #Ameerah trending on social media for 3 straight days. And the doubts started.
Where are the families of the other abducted victims?
How come no one else raised an alarm?
How is her phone still on despite several hours?
Turns out, the doubts are true. On June 20th, 6 days after her supposed kidnapping, Ameerah publicly apologized on her Twitter profile. This was after the police had earlier released a statement she is with them.
But not before the voice note was released on June 17th. In the voice note; Ameerah was heard saying:
“The VPN is on, is not like anybody will notice I’m in one of the biggest hotels in mainland.”
For context, according to a Twitter user, Oil_shaeikh; the biggest hotel in Mainland is the Marriot hotel located in Ikeja GRA. The smallest room there starts from 150k a night.
But that’s not what piqued people’s attention.
The moans did.
Many people concluded that she was together with a man when Ameerah recorded the voice note.
So who exactly is he?
Many theories about the mystery man in question have been flying around, but one thing is sure. No one knows him. However, there are a few pointers.
Judging by Ameerah’s response to a tweet by Halal_Matchmaking saying not all girls ask for money, it is clear that the man in question is stinking rich. “I’m asking for everything oo. Rich handsome your money and the love and peace of mind”
She responded then, on January 14th, 2022. It is doubtful if she lowered her standards. The fact that he can afford to lodge in the biggest hotels on Mainland —where the smallest room starts from150k a night— for several nights further buttress this point.
While Ameerah has been charged to court for self-kidnapping, it is clear more information will emerge. Trust us to be here with them when they do.
Other Contemporaries Have Children Enough to Marry
A Case of Broken Heart or Sorcery?
Numerous weddings have been done in Kannywood in the past few months. From the controversial Maishadda wedding to the new power couple, Lilin Baba and Ummi Rahab; the industry had its fair share of weddings. Despite the wedding fever, many remain unmarried.
Out of all those, one stands out. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Baballe Hayatu, the most eligible bachelor in Kannywood.
Born in Giginyu quarters in Kano in 1975, Baballe is a household actor in Kannywood. At 45, almost the same age as contemporaries Ali Nuhu and Sani Danja — who both have daughters nearly 18 — the actor has appeared in numerous movies like Tsintsiya, Dan Almajiri, Baiwar Allah, and more. He can be considered an A-list Kannywood actor who has been successful.
But Why Didn’t the Actor Marry?
According to the actor, not even his friends know the real reason why he isn’t married. He instead says he prays about it every day.
This probably is the reason why others think perhaps the actor has been ‘cursed’ not to marry.
But has he dated other women before?
In 2016, the actor was rumored to have married fellow actress Sadiya Gyale. The actor swiftly denied that and insisted they were just friends.
The duo appeared in the famous movie; Gyale in 2004.
Will the actor eventually tie the knot?
Only God knows. As the actor said, he prays about the situation every day, and perhaps the problem will come to pass. One clear thing is that the actor is currently the most eligible bachelor in Kannywood.
The above lyrics are from the now-viral Ado Gwanja song ‘Warr.’ And with good reason too. The self-styled ‘direban mata’ is no stranger to wedding songs. One can say he is the number one wedding singer in Arewa. This time around, the singer is back with another banger.
But what is the meaning of Ado Gwanja’s song ‘Warr’?
In local Fulfulde, the word ‘Warr’ means come. In Hausa, the word doesn’t have any meaning. The real reason why the singer used the term is purely for entertainment. But that didn’t stop fans from reaching their conclusions.
According to one Muhdbee on Instagram; “Musical speak in tongues ne…only when you’re feeling the music spiritually then you will understand.”
is in reference to his now ex-wife. The story goes thus; they were going out for an outing, and he called her and she responded she is applying her powder. The singer then responded, with “Ko kin zo da ke da hodar, ubanku zan ci”, which is an insult.
The response of his then ex-wife was; “Warr”, meaning she doesn’t care.
The actor has also been accused of stealing the idea of that particular verse from the legendary singer, Mamman Shata in ‘Wakokin Asawara.’
When asked what the meaning of the word Warr by famous Instagram blogger northern Hibiscus, he offered to answer privately, followed by laughing emojis.
While the song is making waves, not everyone likes it.
According to umardasuma on Instagram, “It doesn’t even make sense at all wlh. I petty those people that are Even following his song.”
